April 9, 2004, Newsletter Issue #181: If it hurts, rest it

Tip of the Week

If something doesn`t feel right, your body`s telling you to take care of it. If you don`t fix yourself up, it could lead a more serious injury -- or a chronic pain that might one day become arthritic.

Take a week off. Ice your sore part to reduce swelling. When you resume, take it easy and keep icing post-workout. If you`re still in pain after a couple weeks, think about going to a doctor.

A week`s rest and a visit to your GP may be inconvenient, but not as bad as a lifetime of pain.
