Tip of the Week

There are no definitive studies showing why more kids are overweight now, but I think we can assume it`s for the same reasons more adults are overweight. Too much food and too little activity. A lot of teenage girls get no planned physical activity. This might be ok if they walk everywhere and do a lot of active chores, but most don`t. This is a complicated problem to which I may return later, but for now here`s advice for parents of overweight kids (or all teenagers): set a good example. If kids see parents working out, or better yet, going hiking or playing tennis with them, they are more likely to get moving themselves. And it will be good for the parents too.
