You may see ads for products or programs that promise you will lose 20 pounds in two weeks. Don't believe it. One or two pounds a week, on average, is considered healthy and most likely to stay off. Sometimes you can lose five pounds the first week on a diet, but this will not be sustained. Slow and steady is best for weight loss.
