Will I lose muscle just because I get older?

Losing Muscle

It is true, as you may have read, that you lose muscle mass with age, but you can slow that loss with weight training. You may even be able to gain muscle, depending on your initial fitness and how hard you work out. Maintaining muscle goes along with maintaining the strength necessary to perform the activities of daily living and stay independent.

Yes, this is very true. As a trained and certified personal trainer we advise all of our members to incorporate strength training into their exercise regimen. This does not mean that you must lift heavy weights. No. Doing calisthenics is just as good. Make sure to maintain a proper nutritional discipline. Exercising alone does not do it. Good luck!

I lift weights 3 times a week in group training. I'm 62, female & it helps to know I can still lift 50lbs. Yes it works, to keep on lifting weights all your life. :)
