In-line Skating

Read this tip to make your life smarter, better, faster and wiser. LifeTips is the place to go when you need to know about Aerobic exercise and other Exercise topics.

In-line Skating

In-line skating can give you a great cardio workout. How long and how fast you skate affects the quality of the aerobic workout, but even moderate in-line workouts are good. Start out easy to warm up, and wear protective gear. There's a learning curve to skating, but if you practice and don't push yourself, you can master it. Consider a lesson if it doesn't come easy to you.

Definitely wear protective gear. I'm nursing a wrist injury for lack of it. A great cardio workout and fun too. Fun should be a required element of all workout. I find that it's also a great way to stay limber and strectching comes a little easier once warmed up with skating. enjoy.

This is true for sure. I'm awful at it, but I went with my boyfriend a few months ago and just TRYING to skate had me sweating!

I'm 58 and learned in-line just three years ago. It's great and much easier on my knees than jogging. I totally recommend it for people my age or older.
