Swimming CaloriesGet ready to burn calories during swimming and water aerobic exercises! An average 150 lb swimmer burns about 9-1/2 calories per minute--slightly less than running but more than cycling, and enough for a good cardiovascular workout.Comments2/1/2007 4:58:33 AMEmma said: I love to swim! Best workout for me. Great overall work out. I started putting it into my workout plan for total body toning. :) 2/1/2007 5:38:54 PM Les said: To burn the calories can you either swim or walk in the water? Would regular paced freestyle do the same? 6/6/2008 2:18:00 AM Sammy said: I just found water exercising a couple of months ago and a love it. I use the weights and people there have told me they see a difference but others have said that it is not possible to actually lose weight, just tone. I am walking forward 10 minutes in a roundabout that has reisistance. backwards for 10 minutes, sideways for 10, with ankle weights and dumbells and jogging for 10 before I begin any of the weight lifting. Can I be losing weight? I haven't noticed a difference on the scale yet. 4/24/2009 7:33:25 PM Nicholas said: Sammy, you have to watch that food intake as well - that is really what will help you lose the weight; eating less.
