Fibromyalgia

Read this tip to make your life smarter, better, faster and wiser. LifeTips is the place to go when you need to know about Fitness and other Exercise topics.

Fibromyalgia

If you have fibromyalgia, don't fear fitness. Although fibromyalgia is characterized by chronic pain, a fitness program relieves the symptoms, as well as improving overall health and fitness. For many people with the condition, exercise works better than any other treatment. Start slowly and avoid activities with a lot of impact. Weight training is good, but start with light weights and one set. Increase weight when you can without causing pain.

This tip is so true. The more you exercise the better. I know at times you just want to be still because it hurts so bad; but in reality laying still and not moving only makes it worse. The more you move the better off you are...or at least that is how it has worked for me.

I have been in "remission" for over 5 years due to excersizing. I recommend starting with a trainer who will take it slow and work you up slowly. I tend to be an over-achiever, so this way, I didn't hurt myself and give up!
