July 11, 2003, Newsletter Issue #145: Summer Exercise

Tip of the Week

If you`re an avid runner, you are probably continuing to run. If you love working out with weights, you are probably continuing to go to the gym. If you are less devoted to your sport or workout, you may be tempted to skip it for another activity. The good news is, you`re not missing much if you trade your workout for another active endeavor. If you can get out and play tennis or volleyball or go hiking instead of taking your 3-mile walk, that`s great. Just try to stay active for an hour a day. Don`t go all out, though, on an activity that you`re not used to, and be careful to use sunscreen and stay hydrated. You don`t want to spend the rest of the summer with an injury.
