Tip of the Week

It is common to work the obliques (side abs) in an effort to get a slimmer waist. The problem is that the obliques build rather quickly, so if you do a lot of side bends, side situps on the back extension bench, and the like, you will end up with a boxy look, just what you don`t want. Athletes in rotational sports (tennis, golf, baseball, etc.) want strong obliques and can work them hard, but if you are working out for general fitness and appearance sake you will get most of the oblique work you need from your regular crunches, and should keep specific exercises for the obliques to a minimum.
