One of the major studies of 2002 showed that brisk walking (3-4 mph) reduced the risk of heart disease in women almost as much as vigorous exercise did. The study indicated that more walking was better, with 2-1/2 hours a week leading to a 30% decrease in risk. None of this means anyone should give up vigorous exercise--just that you can get a lot of benefit from exercise that`s easier for most of us.
