April 12, 2002, Newsletter Issue #84: Ageless Muscle

Tip of the Week

If you`re unsure about why you need muscle mass, just remember that aside from bones, organs, and a few other things, that part of you that isn`t muscle is fat. We are not talking about building bulging muscles, but about maintaining enough strength to make everyday activities easy, enjoy sports, and, when you`re older, be able to get out of the chair. People as old as their 90`s can build muscle and strength with weight training, but you have to use resistance that feels heavy to you. "Light" weights won`t convince your muscles to get stronger to meet the challenge.
